Hey sister, remember this?

I remember this one period in our lives when my sister was obsessed with anything iridescent/sparkly and rainbows in general. I don't know why my parents thought she did this but I know the real reason.

So precious! I forget how long she kept a container of fish scales but I don't think we had anymore fish after that. We moved up to hamsters. Less shiny but much more fun.

  1. Fish scales are unique and can be recycled, I suppose. Hopefully, she didn't recycle any part of the hamsters...

    1. Oh goodness no! when the hamster died we just dug up the carcasses that were lovingly buried and watch the magic of decomposition happen. Until the dog found our burial spot. Dogs are wonderful!

  2. Haaaaaaaaaa, oh what a brilliant post! My lot had a morbidly enthusiastic fascination for a good funeral - sometimes they didn't have the patience to wait for their pet to die.. (I, um, should probably qualify that - worms, beetles and caterpillars were also classified as pets).

    1. Ah yes, my siblings and I did our share of insect mulching. We'd also try to get the dog to eat the pieces (That dog would eat just about anything). It's what having a backyard is for! I feel sorry for those city kids that grow up without the joy of bugs and mud and swing-sets.
